guys! wait and watch, linux desktop is now not very far off. redhat 8 indeed is very fast and nice. very smooth graphics. though i had some tough time inside the gnome shipped with redhat, kde was better. rh has modified both gnome and kde in rh8.0 (the name slipped my mind). rh plans to release the same code in future releases also if the market responds positively.
apart from this, desktop os based on debian are also being pulled out. i have tried lindows (which is really very promising). though charged $99 for lindows, lindows does give you a promissing future desktop on linux with the stability of debian. It also offers you package updates through aptget. In all a nice distro. I would like to add something more to this. Linux desktop still has way to go. I have got most of the stuff working now, except for one thing, USB support. If any one has any luck on running USB devices please do send in your experiences. The error i get is common on all distros (even with latest kernels), USB bulktimeout when i try to plug my USB device in/out. regards, Anand Gupta
