my modem is a Dax (PC TEL chipset ) it was working
with rh8 and 9 with the drivers which i got with the
modem but under fedora and knoppix its not working
out of box although they recognise it. since there is
some problem with bsnl i couldn't download the latest
drivers . i will get back to you if its working with
the drivers given at linmodems

details of some internal modems supported by Linux,
which can connect without any tweaking/configuring and
which are available now in the market.
