hi,

please use the following link...

http://www.kumarayil.net/dialup.htm

it will take you to Mr Dileeps site, the information
there might help.

please get in touch with balakrishnan sir, i had
installed a win-modem with his help.

right now i have an externel modem, previously i had
an onboard win-modem, i got the dirver, ran the
installation script and had it working, but the issues
with internel modems are plenty the most common being
the need for the device driver. In most cases the
driver is not available and if it is available(like
was my case) the driver would only work with one
particular kernel version for which it was written
for.

you need not have a /dev/modem link, the particular
link depends on the driver installtion script, it was
/dev/sm56 for the modem i had.
