So what would be the reason if there is any, to buy it.!

GUI ... which works like a dream.
Seamless Integration with apple desktop and software
Wide range of applications available already
No crashing mobis like those from motorola and nokia

Still I believe, iPhone is over the top for a phone.

Reflecting on some of the comments from this thread.

Google for hackintosh

Whats wrong in paying for music?

Rubbish ..!! It uses only GPS technology and Cellular technology as a
fallback. Both are proven ones in more privacy aware societies like EU and
USA

I am not by any means saying that the open source efforts in Mobile market
is crap. They are good and are extensible and all that... but what does it
buy for a normal user?

reasons to avoid iPhone (heard in news. Not sure if they are correct.).

1) Costly (20K). No value for money.
2) Just 2MP camera. No front camera. Even N73(11-12k) has 3.2 MP cam and a
front vga cam.
3) No video recording.
4) Bluetooth transfer only to the "i" devices from apple. Like, I have to
buy an MacBook if I need to transfer data.
5) Due to reason 4, 16GB memory is useless.
6) Internal battery. I have to contact directly to apple to repair in any
case.
7) Cant copy text from received emails.

Don't remember if there is anything more.

Does these reasons seem better for a common man? :-)

1. iPhone completely blocks free software. Developers must pay a tax to
Apple, who becomes the sole authority over what can and can't be on
everyone's phones.

2. iPhone endorses and supports Digital Restrictions Management (DRM)
technology.

3. iPhone exposes your whereabouts and provides ways for others to track
you without your knowledge.

4. iPhone won't play patent- and DRM-free formats like Ogg Vorbis and
Theora.

 5. iPhone is not the only option. There are better alternatives on the
horizon that respect your freedom, don't spy on you, play free media
formats, and let you use free software -- like the
 FreeRunner (http://www.openmoko.com).
