1. Introduction to Free Software, Open Source and the GNU Movement.

We start of with our regular discussion on Free Software and related topics.
This is important for new users.

2. Agenda : The Power of the Command Line Interface

The 3 actions items as an outcome of the last meeting
   have been

       - Open Message to teachers to enlighten them
about the significance and power of the Free
       Software Movement.
       - Free Software Community Groups in Schools.
       - Providing training and support to teachers.

Continuing our initiative for involving teachers into the Free
Software community, we have planned another meeting
exclusively for teachers. This time we put forward
a technical presentation which will help teachers gain
some confidence with the Operating System basics.
This is our first step in the direction of Action Item #3
   mentioned above.

This months extensive technical discussion on the power of the
command line interface unknown to many teachers will help open
up avenues for teaching students the "behind the scenes" functioning
of applications and help them to explore deeper into this unknown
   territory.

The presentation has been designed taking into consideration feedback
from the teachers who attended the last meeting as well as requests
of others involved in educational field teaching Free Software.

The technical presentation will be spread across the following:

       - Why Command Line Interface?
       - Simple and Complex commands - ls,cd,cat,less,mkdir,rm,etc..
       - Applications from command line - Mplayer
       - Basic functionality of a GUI Wrapper program - Sound Juicer.
       - A peek into Shell Scripting with a simple script

The presentations would be handled by different ILUG members
depending on the availability and expertise level.

The above discussion will provide a small and quick introduction to
the Command Line Interface. It will definitely spur some ideas into
the minds of teachers, thereby helping them to break the ice.

Of course our aim is to provide the teachers
with the very important knowledge they require and
thereby helping them educate the upcoming generation
inducing in them the power to think out of the box.

We will also address the common difficulties faced by teachers
and provide guidelines with being self reliant.

3. We will have an extensive Q&A Session after the Technical Presentation,
as per the time limits.

We expect a better turnout of teachers for this meeting.
We plan to send meeting invitations to various school
IT Coordinators. All the members in Mailing List are also
requested to spread the word about this meeting among
the teachers from all streams.

We hope more people from the community will
make it to the meeting. This will enable a constructive
and solid technical discussion as well as a great brainstorming
to bring out better results and robust action items.

We look forward to your participation for this exciting meeting!!!

Hoping to meet you all on Sunday

Thank You

Regards
