Ports is good. But from what I read there, it isn't as forgiving as APT. The 
new 
aptitude is takes up from an unclean install, power failure etc. Then you have 
apt-source if you want to compile your own :)

But then again, YMMV.

An excellent list! :D

Isn't curl present in FreeBSD? Curl can be better than wget, at times.

chflags also has a ext3/4 equivalent -- chattr. lsattr lists the attributes, 
which enables you to see if immutable bit is set or not.

The details are abundant, but not compelling enough to say FreeBSD is superior 
:)
