I had a similar problem with a list several weeks back.  It wasn't the same characters 
but the situation was the same.  No method I tried including removing it from the 
command line and trying to rebuild the lists .db file worked.  I finally started 
restoring the back-up .db files for the list until I found one where the address was 
not corrupted.
