Yes, there is a debug flag for `mdimport`. Also described in the [Apple
documentation](https://developer.apple.com/library/mac/documentation/Carbon/Conceptual/MDImporters/Concepts/Troubleshooting.html#//apple_ref/doc/uid/TP40001690-222819)
for implementing Spotlight importers. Let me know if you can locate a
particular message and then either share it with me or create one that
also crashes based one, e.g., the headers of that message.
(And I'll recheck that I can parse my own database.)
