Ken,

Are you paying for migration from X to Y?

If it were me, I would do it myself and would make a full backup to your local drive of all emails and mailboxes regardless (because I don’t believe anyone else other than what I see AND secondly would not cancel X company server before you know that all mailboxes, contents and mail enclosures inside them are fully transferred (at least by a numeric count of the contents and random examinations) on Y’s Server.

Again, I would make someone pay for the overlap to complete this process, too, along with any other fixes for screwups.

Did I answer all?

Respectfully,

Henry Seiden

My mail currently resides on a dedicated server managed by company X. To save money, I’m considering transferring my domains, mail, and websites from X to a dedicated server managed by company Y.

Will all the many, *many* IMAP mailboxes that MailMate has created for me disappear in the move, or will they (if the move goes well) wind up on the new server with their contents intact?

If it is likely that they and their contents (many emails in each) will survive the transition, is there anything I should ask company Y to do or avoid doing the increase the chances of a safe move?

Thanks—as always—for your help.

Ken
