Typing in the To: field is often very slow (10 sec beach ball of death

typeahead options from contacts, sent mail, etc... After loading once
it's good and fast for a bit (while it's cached I'm guessing) and then
it's slow again. This was never an issue in Apple Mail. How can I
speed
it up here?
This one I can help with. I solved this permanently by creating a smart
mailbox inside the Sent Messages folder. This smart mailbox contains a
recent subset of sent mail (the past year, in my case, but you can set
it however you want).
Then I went to MailMate > Settings > Composer > Auto-Completion Sources,
and in the 3rd checkbox I use “All address headers” in [my new smart
mailbox]. This way it’s only searching the last year’s worth of sent
mail instead of the more than 20 years I’ve accumulated! This also
helps with filtering out old email addresses.
Hope this helps.
