Oh, that should work fine, since the rest of the world sees Proofpoint as your mail host. If you want to go that route with a spam filter proxy, there are plenty of options like Mailchannels and Mimecast. The cheapest credible one I know is Tucows, if you just want the spam filtering, that's about $2/mailbox/yr via resellers.
