The MX record for a domain name is usually a necessary level of
indirection, because the domain name itself usually points to a web
server and not a mail server.

But if I set up a mailing-list server on lists.orlitzky.com, then the
hostname already points to the right address. Why also create an MX
record and copy/paste?
