Two responses, one asking for more details and the other saying "We have shared this with our product and engineering team and will update this issue with more information as it becomes available". But then nothing for over a month which seems to suggest it is very hard to fix given whatever else was internally changed and/or there's not enough pressure to fix it to get it high enough on the schedule for active effort to be approved which may be due to users having easy alternatives. Upvoting the bug may help as it only has 186, and corroboration by and details from someone with a Pixel (running the stock/official Pixel OS).
