I have personally found that to re-enable/first-time-enable a Labs feature,
I have to:
1. Open Safari instead of Mailplane.
2. Open the Gears settings.
3. Remove the GMail gears entries.
4. Login via Safari.
5. Enable whichever lab features you want (including offline).
6. Make sure the features are working properly in Safari.
7. Close the Safari window (I didn't need to specifically Log Out YMMV).
8. Open Mailplane.
9. Go through the process of setting up Offline mode via Mailplane.

Worked for me, I've had to do it a couple of times now.

On a slightly related note, this all was inspired by my inability to see
right-side Labels and I was surprised that I could not access GMail via
Safari when I went to check the feature status (Mailplane closed of course).
