Thanks for the idea. The good news is: Preferences for Mailplane 2.1-beta
and 2.0.4 are compatible, so you can switch between the two apps without
problems. Mailplane also stores account information in ~/Application
Support/Mailplane/Accounts.xml, this works in both versions too.

Another solution: To safely play with a new version, create a new Mac OS X
account. For instance, I use a "test" Mac OS X account to test installation
and preferences. You can delete the "test" Mac OS X at any time and it
doesn't use much space. "Enable fast user switching" in Login Options allows
you to use two Mailplane versions at the same time.
