Yes, I saw that, but it seems somewhat different. For me, it's almost entirely on sending, or at least that's where I notice it (since I can't do anything else in Mailplane until the message sends).
I have Safari 4 on this Mac, but it happens on my MacBook too, where I have Safari 3 still. I installed Gears a while back, but took it out because I couldn't get Mailplane to go online. I'm not using it now.
