I'm able to reproduce your ctrl-a/ctrl-e/ctrl-k results in Safari, Mail, and TextEdit (I haven't made a habit of using any of those, so I hadn't noticed.). For comparison, I get the "beginning/end-of-line" results I expect as an Emacs user in Opera and Firefox, but ctrl-b is "bold" instead of "prevous character." Would it be possible to set this as a preference with the standard Safari/TextEdit/Mail/WebKit behavior as the default? As someone who has the emacs key engrained in his psyche, this would be a great improvement.
And yes, I meant ctrl-k.
