I think "start over", in this context, just means that you'll need to go
through the whole Gears/Gmail initial setup again - which simply means
activating "Offline Gmail" and re-downloading your email store to your Mac once
again.

The folder that Ruben pointed to is actually where Gears keeps all your Gmail
data locally. By deleting it, you re-create the store.

Hope this helps :)

I did have this installed -- was it removed with the Gears update Alan
mentioned?

I have reinstalled it and still unable to get Offline working so I
have now trashed the file mentioned in Action 3.

When youi say "start over" what does that mean I should do next to get
into Gears and Off-line?
