I experienced the "Still working" problem myself. It happened after Google
improved Offline Gmail and I was forced to rebuild my offline database.

Now, it's working nicely. However, I experienced "Still working" twice.

Google Gears for Snow Leopard: No there doesn't exist a newer version.
