On your first screenshot I can see an "Undo" link to undo you send. As long as this link is displayed, Mailplane will not close the window. The undo link normally disappears after about 15 seconds and Mailplane should then close the window.
Does the Undo link disappear after some time? Does the "Mailplane > Reset Gmail Session" help in any way? Thanks.
