Recently released for Chrome is an extension called Instant Notifications for Gmail <https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/ adlgnpfgagimgadbaboilkbdnhbpegmd> which watches labels of your choice or all labels for incoming messages and puts a Growl-like notification on screen allowing you to act on them. As you know, GMail only supports notifications for the Inbox. This extension allows the user to input as many label titles as they would like, separated by commas, or select all labels.
Mailplane could do this so much better. You could have it as a preference in Mailplane. You could turn it on and off, it could pull in the labels for the currently active account and select them individually or all at once. You could specify an alert sound separate from the normal one. Growl would do the actual notifying. Click the Growl notification to go to the message(s) or you could have it star the message for later reading. I have used this on Chrome and it works well, but this is internal to Chrome, so there is no Growl or direct Mac OS X support. Label notification is one more sorely needed feature in GMail. We also need message prioritizing, return receipt, etc. If I was writing Mailplane, and I'm not, I think I would move this to the top of my list of revisions for a future release. --Steve -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "mailplaneapp" group.
