I've noticed very similar behavior - constantly getting "Action
Unsuccessful, Please Try Again." as well as emails that were deleted
or archived magically coming back to my inbox.

As far as I can tell, it's related to enabling an account for multiple
sign-ins at once under the Account Settings page. As soon as I
selected "On" I started having issues with Mailplane.
