I've used Mailplane since I got a MAC and love it. Recently, the Growl notifications have quit showing up when a new message comes in. Also, the number notification on the Mailplane icon in the dock isn't showing the number of unread messages. I have no idea why this is occurring.
There was a recent Growl update and it may have broke it but that doesn't explain the icon in the dock. Latest version of Mailplane 2.4 is installed.
