Hi Alex, Thanks for the message. I just tried to duplicate the problem, but it works on my side. Please make sure you have enable "Check spelling as you type" in Preferences > Tweak UI If it doesn't work, please try the latest preview version as it fixes some Lion problems: http://mailplaneapp.com/download/preview
