Hello fello MailPlane users, This is a test to show that you can in fact make the type larger just in the <textarea> where you type. I have mine set to a monospaced font since I sometimes write code to others and it looks better to me.
My aging eyes were asking for this, but I didn't like the idea of bumping
up the entire screen and blowing out the entire layout, though google does
a pretty decent job pf scaling up to a point.
The other nice thing about this, is the recipient is none the wise, this is
just a display font issue, which you can see in the received screen shot
that I will reply to this email form as soon as google groups delivers is.
The css to make this happen is:
.lw-avf {
font: 1em/1.25em Consolas, Monaco, "DejaVu Sans Mono", monospace
}
I went css shorthand to keep it clean. You can change the fonts logically
– the 1em/1.25em is the font-size/line height. google seems to use 1.0em
as a baseline for all fonts, probebly the result of a css reset
implementation.
Hope this helps some of you have an easier time typing on smaller screens
like this aging 13" MacBook.
* Installation - Copy and paste the css from
( http://pastie.org/2903152 ) or use this email, though there may be issues
with line breaks.
Put it in a a text file if you don't already have a MailPlane css file in
use. Store it somewhere appropriate, I store mine in:
/Users/scott/Library/Application Support/Mailplane/custom.css
Open your MailPlane preferences and check off the "Use Custom Style Sheets"
option.

If you have any questions or suggestions, please let me know. As soon as
googles "New Look" settles down, and I get a grasp on how their css works,
I will make a Safari Extenstion that coverts this. I just hope it can be
used somehow in MailPlane. However, I head there new new things on the
horizon with 3.0.
The extension would allow me to add fields were users can simply enter in
values. If the extensions is not an option, I will just make a very simple
GUI that writes out a text file, stores it somewhere, and toggle the
defaults.write commands to enable the custom css setting.
Then I can have control over ads, fonts, disabling the display of certain
text style buttons that I never use such as align-center, size, and smiley
faces. I could offer an option to remove the "plain text" feaster, or at
least make is smaller along with check spelling and get it to all fit on
one line. All this is about space minimization for us poor 13" users
who don't have all the screen real estimable in the world.
Screen shot coming up to show this is only cosmetic, and doesn't effect the
recipient. Hope you enjoy, or if not, hope you know someone who will, and
if not, I hope you learn that MailPlane isa pretty damn flexible app.
Thats all, have a good day.
