FYI: I am on 2.5.5 and this is suddenly not working. I don't think it's tied to a specific version of code. It seems that Google removed the option for what Attach a File dialog you get in Gmail; that would suggest there were some code changes which broke Mailplane. It still works in the dev channel on Chrome.
