At the moment we can only suggest to close the main window (Command-W) during the time you don't like to see incoming emails. Search won't work but you can compose new messages while keeping the main window closed. Simply go to 'Preferences… > Shortcuts' or use the dock or menu bar 'Compose Message With' item.
