Overall IT epxerience around 8 years; 5+ years experience with Business Intelligence/Report development; 3+ years of using Microstrategy version 8; Windows server environment and Oracle 2. knowledge of business applications in the manufacturing, ERP or supply chain or equivalent 3. ability to talk to business users and do analysis/design/development and test of Microstrategy reports 4. Upgrade Microstrategy from 8i version to 9 GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The position of MicroStrategy Consultant is for an IT professional that has 5+ years experience in the design and development and implementation of reports and project design with MicroStrategy 8i and 9. The candidate must have MicroStrategy upgrade experience, preferable from version 8 to 9. The applicant should also have an in-depth knowledge of relational data bases such as Oracle. The position will interact with the business users to understand the needs for analytical applications and reports, and define detailed solutions to developing/maintaining the front-end applications. Because business reporting and data analysis requires a general understanding of business systems, the applicant will need to have good familiarity with a number of key business applications: · Supply Chain · ERP/MRP As part of the specification and documentation process, the applicant will need excellent written and verbal skills and should be able to write documentation for both business users and technical IT use. RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Requirement gathering and development of functional document. 2. Develop/Maintain the front-end repository including Metrics, Filters, Views and dimensions 3. Development and programming of reports and front-end data access programs based on functional designs. 4. Development of stored procedures and views used in report development and front-end data access applications. 5. Install and maintain front-end and reporting tools. 6. Supporting users in problem resolution 7. Upgrading products and applying patches as necessary 8. Maintaining and modifying reports/queries as necessary 9. Troubleshooting operational/data issues 10. Managing and supporting the technical documentation 11. Testing changes/modification 12. Providing assistance to other technical areas as required QUALIFICATIONS: 1. 5+ years Hands-on experience with the following MicroStrategy 8i components: Architect Desktop, Schema Objects, MicroStrategy Administrator, OLAP Services, BI Developer Kit, Intelligence Server, Object manager, Narrowcast Server, Report Services and Web - REQUIRED 2. Proficiency with Microstrategy 8i - Dynamic Dashboard, Flash Widget design, Report development, development and project design: Facts, Attributes, Hierarchies, Aggregation, Portal Integration, etc. - REQUIRED 3. MicroStrategy hands-on upgrade experience - REQUIRED 4. Experience in configuring, governing, trouble shooting, tuning Intelligence Server, Web Server and NarrowCast Server - REQUIRED. 5. The candidate MUST also have experience on MicroStrategy Security Administration with exposure to administering large number of users and groups with security filters. - REQUIRED 6. Good understanding of relational structures, dimensional data modeling, Structured Query Language (SQL) skills, Data Warehouse and reporting techniques. - REQUIRED 7. 5+ years experience using SQL with a relational DBMS such as Oracle or MS SQL Server. 8. In-depth experience with client server applications and architectures - REQUIRED 9. Experience working with the full life cycle development process, which includes analysis, design, construction, and testing - REQUIRED 10. MicroStrategy Certification - PREFERRED 11. Experience with the Web/ASP/HTML programming language a - PLUS. 12. Proficiency with the Windows Server is a MUST and UNIX (Sun Solaris) operating systems a PLUS 13. Excellent Written and Verbal communication skills with the ability to interact with senior business and technical IT management - REQUIRED 14. Strong Analytical and problem solving abilities - REQUIRED 15. General experience with business applications in the areas of supply chain management and production control - PREFERRED 16.
