too bad that most things dont USE that. there's lot of badly written java

you're lucky if it even pays attention to JAVA_HOME.

ugh. i hope not "lots".
But that would be a reason why it wouuld be better as a wrapper than a
symlink.
Because a wrapper could set JAVA_HOME appropriately, to where it "really"
is.
