Good idea. Please add to that a notifier when package ownership changes (to the old and the new maintainer). Ideally, with the list of open bugs for the package so to raise awareness for the new maintainer. Jake just took over dovecot (good!) and I only noticed by chance that his new package version was published. Didn't even pop up on pkgsubmissions.
