The semi-annual Princeton Women’s Regatta which was to be sailed in FJs was
canceled on Saturday due to high winds. Sailors arrived from Army, Columbia,
Fordham, OCC, Princeton, and UMD, during torrents of rain and gusts up to 40
knots at 9am. The wind from the southeast pummeled the floating dock with seas
of 4-6 feet, causing it to pitch unbelievably and making it un-walkable. By
10:30 am sustained winds were still 25-30 knots with gusts hitting 45 knots.
Weather reports indicated that conditions would intensify through Sunday.
Given this information and the consensus of all participating teams, the
regatta was canceled in its entirety.
