MAISA,
I am currently a sophomore on UVA's sailing team and, after reading Dan Winters proposal, I agree that it would be in our best interest. It makes sense to have only teams that have not qualified racing in the regional qualifiers. As a member of a small club team, I would rather be competing to win the regional qualifier (as would happen under Dan's proposal), instead of competing for 7th or 8th place behind teams that had already qualified. Teams sailing in qualifying regattas should all be teams trying to qualify, rather than teams that have already achieved that goal.
