The conference call is scheduled for September 23, 2008 at 8pm EDT. Call in
to 1-218-936-4700 (Toll free in USA and Canada). You will be asked for an
access code. Enter 892257.
TENTATIVE AGENDA:
Treasurer’s report: All bills sent out for Fall ‘08. Due by 10/31. If
not, no sailing after that date. Scheduling may take place, but will not be
finalized if the bill is not paid by the time of the 2009 annual meeting.
OLD BUSINESS:1. UPDATE OF 2008-09 SINGLEHANDEDS (Cornell)
NEW BUSINESS
1. 2009 RACING SCHEDULE (Winters)
a) Scheduling Proposal for the Spring of 2009
1. The top nine teams at the War Memorial qualify for the America.
2. All other teams would qualify at their regional qualification
regattas.
3. Three teams would qualify from each of these events for a total
of nine to go with
those from the War.
4. Only those teams from the appropriate region would be allowed
sail in these
regattas. Those teams that qualified at the War would not.
5. All three spring qualification regattas would be held on Week 9
(two weeks before
the America with Week 10 as the backup date).
6. The qualifiers would be run by the first non-qualified team able
to do so from each
region according to participation in the War & Luce. If no team
yet to qualify is able
to do so, it will be hosted by the lowest ranked qualified team
from that region at
the War.
7. The hosts would be determined prior to the Annual Meeting for
inclusion on the
schedule.
8. As per previous discussions, a rotation for the Grant would be
put in place with
that event open only to non-America teams. I suggest using the
same rotation as the
Luce, but shifted three years to stagger the responsibility.
The suggestion:
2009 2010 2011 2012 2013 2014 2015 2016
Luce NA ODU KP GTN NYM COR SMC HWS
Grant GTN NYM COR SMC HWS NA ODU KP
b) Proposal: The men's singlehanded qualifying system return to the old
KP Open/ Navy Open format. (Werblow)
c) Concern: Number of regattas cancelled already this Fall.
d) Review of format for Faye Bennet (MAISA Wm’s Singlehandeds).
