Hi Seth.

Thanks for the help.

My keyboard showed up as a port and I checked the box that says use this as a
preferred device. I then went to instruments and selected the synth from
there, inserted some tracks, choosing a different instrument for each track and
channel and that part of it finally seemed to work.

I've got another problem that I'm not sure how to resolve and that is a
significant delay between when I press a key and when I hear that note in QWS.

Someone has suggested using ASIO if it was available but it's a USB port my
keyboard is going into which means the synth itself is acting as the sound card
for QWS and I don't believe there's ASIO for USB ports specifically, though I
may be wrong about this.

I looked around in some of the other options and wasn't sure what else to
change to resolve the latency issue.

Also, is it best to create a blank .mid file that has the template for your
projects like instrument selections and ports because it seems that this
information isn't saved by default in QWS itself.

Sorry, I meant checkbox. If your keyboard doesn't show up in the ports
dialogue, then you probably need to install the driver that came with your
keyboard.

Hope this helps.

The instrument dialogue is for choosing instrument lists, not ports.

Make sure your keyboard is plugged in before u start QWS. Then see if your
keyboard shows up in the ports dialogue in the options menu. If it does, make
sure to check the use this port chrckbox.

Hi there.

I spent a good part of yesterday listening through most of the audio tutorial
for QWS but I'm having a problem and I was hoping I could get some help with it.

I've got the roland fa08 and in the instruments dialog, I chose the roland fa08
consolidated list and the roland fa08 for the port.

now, when I go to track and insert, it shows me only the Microsoft gm option
but it should be showing me what I selected in the instrument dialog? Am I
doing something wrong?

Thanks for the help.

I'm using windows 7-32 bit.
