Thank you, James. That extra options menu set things right. Couldn't that be included in the main Options menu. It seems to me that when we check that our desired port should be used, that there need not be another step to make that port the true default.
On another matter, once the port has been established, is there a way to make QWS the default MIDI player? As I may have said already, I have perhaps 500 files. I may wish to delete some or rename others. (Many of these were created before Windows permitted long file names.) If QWS is the default MIDI player, I could open, rename, delete or anything else very quickly. As it is, if I open a file from within QWS, there is no way to delete or rename it. That could only be done by closing QWS and then finding it and making whatever changes should be made. You can imagine how cumbersome that is. Originally I hoped that a program called MIDI PORT CONFIG would do this, but it does not work properly and its author does not answer email inquiries. Meanwhile, I have done successful sequencing with QWS. This is a marvelous program.
