Tonite at Portland.pm I gave a lightning talk entitled "MakeMaker Is DOOMED! or MakeMaker Is Dead! Long Live Module::Build!".
Executive summary: The architecture of MakeMaker is fundamentally flawed by having to use an external build tool. Further feature development is discouraged. Use Module::Build instead.
