for handing 'recommended' dependencies in this way which you might be
able to use. But I agree, it is not expressed 'well'.

Module::Build already has a well-defined concept of recommended dependencies, but it could be better. I'm formulating a message to the module-build list right now that proposes some new dependency-checking stuff.
