Hi Marcello,

It's in fact fairly easy to achieve what you want.

The config files define system-wide settings, applying to all projects 
(your global defaults).

The trick is to define the project-specific custom statuses using the 
MantisBT interface. Go to Manage / Manage Configuration / Configuration 
Report page. There you can define overrides for config values for 
individual projects (or for All projects), and even for specific users.

Note that this logic is not limited to enumerations such as Status, it 
is also valid for all MantisBT config settings (with a few exceptions).
