However, in terms of someone trying to make a jump from 0.19.x to 1.2.x, I don't think it's something we can expect a user to do: In theory it's a two-step process: a) upgrade from 0.19.x -> 1.x. b) upgrade from 1.x to 1.2.x In reality, I had to edit run several manual database queries to get 0.19.x into the state that 0.19.x should have been in. Then patch the source code for 1.x... and then it gets easier: upgrading to 1.2.x actually works ;) Once you've done the above, it then moves into the realm of utf8 conversion and fixing the legacy config file. I'd be inclined to think there's actually no one on the team now that's familiar with that process - as that area of the code over the years was mainly thraxisp/myself I think. In terms of that process, if any user ever gets in touch about going from 0.19.x to 1.2.x, that previously advertised conversion fee will still apply: 0$, donation to local children's hospital, and able to use skype/team-viewer/share data. More than willing to help out on that, even though my long-term focus is a fork as you know.
