Hello all-- Thank you for the Dryden, Paul, I had a terrible time with him at university but I will try his Aeneid. As for my comments on Virgil's style -- when I said plain I meant I thought his language was regarded as being more vernacular than was the style at the time when he was alive and writing. I know he's not plain, not even in English (I am trying to learn Latin so I can read & compare him to other Roman authors). Also--I did try to find the archives but they are currently down, so excuse me if I am stirring up old discussions.
