I am working as a taecher for latin at a school in Germany and would
like to know if anbody is working on a topic like "Vergil's influence on
the idea of the Roman Empire".
Thanks for any information on this topic!

I am working (indirectly) on this- my thesis was on the role of Britain in the roman Empire from Julius caesar to Domitian- a lot of literary work on what tacitus said, especially with reference to the governors of britain after 43.
However, i had a section dealing with the view of Britain by the augustan poets, and Virgil's two key passes (Aen 1.278-9 and 6:851-3 certainly figured prominently.
I think there is a great deal you can take from Virgil on the emergence of empire/foreign "policy" etc- the key is getting the language that he uses.
Another area indirectly related to Virgil is the poems in the Anthologia Latina titled the "Laus Caesaris" (419-426 in Riese's edition). I think there is a lot of connection between the language of these 42 lines of poetry with poets such as Virgil, Horace and catullus, among others.
Hope that helps- a lot of ideas are still being fleshed out, but I think the writing of virgil is a literal gold mine for such information.
