Andreas, 
I think having a local list of projections that is checked before polling 
spatialreference.org would be useful. That way my browser and my server could 
sit on the LAN would still be useful. If spatialreference.org ever goes down 
then all mapbuilder projects everywhere could go down! 

It should be pretty easy to poll the service through a proxy that caches the 
results. I'll write one up in PHP next week (when my current project is done) 
if anyone is interested.

MapBuilder now uses Proj4j for reprojecting data.  You do not have to
add EPSG definitions any more, because those will be fetched from
http://www.spatialreference.org automatically.

If this does not work for you, there is probably something else wrong
in your config.  In that case, please send your config (or maybe an
url to your application), so we can see what we can do for you.
