Steve and I are in the same office. I loaded IE 9 this morning and the site in question works for me. We verified the IE version number was the same. We are doing some testing to see what is causing it. I hope that Microsoft hasn't taken the browser so far that we wind up troubleshooting OS/Video driver issues.
One of us will post to the list when we figure out the difference. I'm not sure what to make of that - I was thinking that maybe you were using Fusion...Do you just have one site that doesn't work with IE9, or multiple? Without compatibility mode turned on, the site is broken as described before. Features cannot be selected, drop-downs on the taskbar don't work, and the rendering of the drop-downs on the taskbar is incorrect. Whether we like it or not, our sites will be hit by large numbers of using running IE9 very soon. Thankfully, there's a workaround by forcing compatibility mode, but it would sure be great to not have to use that. Of course, Firefox 4 release is coming soon, along with the new version of Chrome. In other news, I just installed IE9 and tested out on my server which is running MGOS v2.2.0.5354 (I think that's RC2)....worked perfectly fine for me. My site's AJAX though - could be that the guy that posted about this problem was either a) using Fusion (which I can't test right now, since I don't have any Fusion sites), or b) had a beta of IE9 which was, indeed, broken.....or maybe c) that the version after 2.2.0.5354 breaks IE9 compatibility, I suppose. Though, that seems unlikely. Anyway - I just wanted to give my 2cents on this...I just think that we should make sure that either MGOS 2.2 supports all major browsers out of the box, or else gets a patch asap - I'm not sure when IE9 will be pushed out through Windows Update and WSUS, but when it does, we need to be sure that MGOS is up to snuff for it.....like I said, from what I can tell at the moment, it seems to work fine (or worst case, worked fine very recently). I was not planning on holding back the 2.2.0 release for IE9 support. I do agree it is an important feature. We are already thinking about timing and content for a 2.2.1 bug fix release. Bug fix release? What's that? We haven't had one of those since 2.0.2 (2.5 years ago). Most open source projects have bug fix releases every quarter. Releases and bug fixes are certainly one area where funding either by direct contract work or through Sponsorships/Donations would certainly help. At the moment, we barely manage a single release every year. The 2.2.0 release has been especially troublesome. We've generated four release candidates since October. I recall reading something on the list that someone had posted about how Mapguide pretty much doesn't work with IE9....Since it's out now, MGOS 2.2 really needs to support it fully. Anyway, just wonrdering! I haven't had a chance to test it out myself quite yet...
