I'd say that sums it up pretty well. I would really like to simplify things the
way you described, but server A with all the data belongs to someone else.

We wanted to use WMS/WFS from the start because we know how to consume those in
MapGuide, but the data is only available in this unfamiliar format.

Thank you for the responses so far, by the way. I suspect what I'm trying to do
is unlikely to work, though.

Subject: Re: [mapguide-users] REST or SOAP services from an ArcGIS server.

Let me know if I am all wrong.
You what all your GIS data on say Server A, and you want a Server B that run
MapGuide and is access by some users? Then you want the FDO provider on Server
B to connect using a webserive on Server A to get the data to display?

I would sugest to have MapGuide on both Server A and Server B, then on server A
you can expose your maps/layers as WMS/WFS and connect to these from server B.
That might be the solution you are asking for?

Hans...
