Has the transition from a wide variety of techniques to contour lines
(virtually exclusively) to scientifically visualize/represent terrain relief
been traced in U.S.A.?
John noted in introducing the Enthoffer text that Google books omits the
graphics. The recent digitization of decennial census volumes by the U.S.
Census Bureau omitted virtually all maps that were included in texts. Has
anyone discovered an agent at Google to protest this text-only approach to
digital reproduction?
