Dear List;
J. Lennart BERGGREN and Alexander JONES in "Ptolemy's Geography: An
Annotated Translation of the Theoretical Chapters" (Princeton, 2001, p. 52)
mentioned that "The first translation [into Latin of Ptolemy's Geography],
by Jacopo d'Angelo, was finished in 1406 and was based on a composite text
derived from two manuscripts".
The source of info for this statement is given by quoting Aubrey DILLER's
introduction to the C. F. A. NOBBE's "Geographia" reprinted in 1966 by Georg
Olms Verlagsbuchhandlung, Hildesheim (pp. IX-X).
Because I do not have access to Aubrey DILLER's introduction, I am forced to
ask if it is known which exactly are the two manuscripts Giacomo d'Angelo da
Scarperia used for his translation.
