While there is a topic dealing with Mercator, I thought I would present a bit
of information I have not known what to do with. I know that there is a recent
published list of known copies of works by Mercator and I am adding one more
item. (Also to lists of printed Ptolemys) In the Military Museum Library in
Istanbul by luck
I ran into a number of old atlases, and one of them is an atlas published by
Mercator in Cologne in 1584, which must be the Ptolemy that Mercator published.
Also were nine of the eleven volumes of the 1662 Blaeu; Andreas Cellarius,
Atlas Coelestis (1665, 1708); N. Sanson, Atlas, 1691 [no copy found in the BN
when I looked]; N. Sanson, 1674; two of the four parts of the manuscript atlas
of 1635 by Guérard [ All of the atlas has been published in facsimile.]; plus a
couple of 19th century works. Since my visit to the library in the 1980s I have
heard that these have been moved to some place in Ankara.]
