The textual descriptions of the complete holdings are broken into six
categories: maps relating to domestic affairs of state.., maps relating
to foreign affairs.., maps relating to maritime enterprise.., maps
relating to private affairs of the Cecils, and drawings of buildings of
unknown location. The 24 plates include, among other things: plans of
Hartlepool, Ford Castle, Falmouth Haven, new harbour at Dover, Flushing;
view of Escorial; map of Fenland, Plymouth, River Lea. There are a
number of libraries in the USA that hold the title, as does the British
Library, National Maritime Museum, and several others.

Lord Burghley, the famous minister to Queen Elizabeth, had special
maps made evidently for each shire. Highly detailed maps, showing
individual residential structures, country estates, etc. Almost like
a Sanborn fire insurance map.
Apparently these maps, at least some survive and are kept within
the British Library. I would like to have a contact person there to
ask about how many and which survive.
