If you want to retain the styles set in MapInfo, you can export using save
window as, and
choose the enhenced windows metafile format (or just plain old WMF).

Two problems with this solution. First, if you have more than one layer show
in your map
window, they will be merged in the WMF. Solution, draw a bounding rectangle
on the
cosmetic layer. Then, export one layer at a time, plus the rectangle, that
you will use
in Freehand as a guide to align the layers properly. Second, the integrety
of complex
polygons is not assured with the WMF. They will be in te file, but you'll
have some minor
editing to do.
