Your 'phantom' table is probably not "Deleteable" because it is read-only.
Besides, that's a dangerous option to use as it permanently deletes the
table off your HD.
Is the table listed under the File>Close Table... option? If so you could
close it then save workspace again. If you are still getting problems, it
may be better to add an index to one of the fields (Modify Table
Structure>Checkmark one of the Index boxes) so that the WOR opens without
error messages, then try closing the table and saving again.
Editing the workspace file itself can be tricky if the table is referenced
in more than one location in the file and you just remove the first mention
of it.
